"When I was two months old, my mother abandoned me to my grandmother.
She could no longer bear the sound of my incessant crying." So
begins St-Pierre's "Post Partum." The filmmaker’s
subterranean, dream-like visual poem shot in 16mm is an image-rich
meditation on three generations of maternal relations. Memories include
vignettes of grayish shore lines, houses, and peering faces placed
on sheets that are hanging on a clothesline to dry. |
