Tahara explores the controversy, horror, and cultural struggle
surrounding the issue of female genital mutilation (FGM) through the
eye's of Amina, an Egyptian housewife living in Los Angeles, who struggles
with the decision of whether to circumcise her own daughter in the
name of “tradition.” Sara Rashad's confident direction
makes this short film at once beautiful, unsettling, and thought-provoking.
